next, i attempted a science project...borax snow flakes:
one worked-
one didn't-
(apparently needing to add more water to the jar also requires additional borax)
we colored:
we chilled in our jammies:
we ate snow ice cream!
one gallon of snow(i put a big bowl out for a few hours, and ended up with plenty)
1 cup white sugar
2 tsp vanilla(or really, any flavor you want!)
2 cups of milk(i used skim...so it was kind of healthy! lol)
mix it all until it comes together.
ok, so its not haagen daas or anyting, but it was a great treat to end the day.
we did lots of fun things, but the kids were still super cranky(lets face it, emily has way more fun in school than at home) i was going to take them out, but it just got colder and the wind picked up. mr. david won't keep gloves on, and emily is not big on wind. oh well, maybe this weekend we can get them out there...we've got plenty! so off to bed they went, hubs went out for rounds 4 and 5 of shoveling(maybe we should finally invest in a snow blower), and i stayed inside finishing emily's valentines-that'll be another post!
oh well...going to enjoy the quiet-ness of the 90 minutes delay!
Very cool ideas! Um, no pun intended!

Well, that looks and sounds like a great day to me. I love the borax snowflake things. I'm sorry the kiddos were still cranky - eventually they'll learn how amazing a snow day really is :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are a fun mom!!! Those donuts really did make a gigantic mess, didn't they? I never tried those Borax snowflakes, but they sound really cool.
