loads of love t shirt tutorial

since making emily's valentine's day outfit-weeks ago-i kept thinking that i needed to do something for david.  i came across this post for a boy's vday shirt.  however, there weren't really any instrustions.  so, once again...it was time for me to "wing it"!

Supplies:
picture of a dump truck
saying of choice
scissors
old clothes
heat n bond lite
iron
tshirt
pencil
emroidery hoop
needle
black dmc floss
first, cut scraps of fabric using old clothing. (we have tons of too-small clothes around here with two growing kids!)

following package instructions, iron on the heat n bond to your scraps.

cut up dump truck picture and pin to fabric to use as a template.

(don't mind my chicken scratch, i was trying to figure out what colors i was going to use)

cut your fabric--don't worry about perfection--its for a boy!(after using the body of the truck, then i cut the window and tires out to use them for templates)

cut out hearts from the red fabric
put the pieces on the tshirt for placement.

iron the pieces in place

using embroidery hoop and dmc floss, back stitch around the main pieces.

with a pencil--and possibly an extra set of hands ;o) hold saying and tshirt up to a window(or in my case-the t.v.)
stitch the letters.

i'll probably put a red long sleeved shirt under this--it is still winter after all!

by all means, if you don't want to hand stitch--use your sewing machine.(or your don't have to stitch it at all--hmmm, black fabric paint would work, oh well, next time!! lol)  i'm still a bit intimidated by sewing small pieces--so i opted not to use my machine.

(P.S. My hubs and I will be married for five years this year and together for 11...it's neat to meet other mamas who've been with their hubbies for a long time, too :o) Happy Sunday!)
