softlips cozy tutorial

recently, vicki over @ frugal mom knows best had a soft lips giveaway--that i won!! :o)  little did i know that i would receive 8 tubes of soft lips in yummy flavors!  what the heck was i going to do with all of these?!  i picked my fav, and let my sissy choose one also.  that left 6-if you're doing that math ;o)  think, think, think.  emily has a teacher, two classroom aides, a bus driver, bus aide, and a classroom nurse(for another student)...that's SIX...AH HA!

Supplies:
1 1/2" wide ribbon
pins
thread
sewing machine
1/8" gromets
gromet tool
hammer
key rings
soft lips
start by cutting a 9" length of ribbon; fold one end down 1/2 inch
sew in place
fold top end down 1 inch and pin
bring up the bottom approx 3 1/4" and pin into place
sew up the sides using 1/4" seam allowance(take your time!)
back stitch at the beginning and end
center the gromet and mark it;cut out the area to insert the gromet
add key ring

*note* instead of soft lips, you can also use chapstick...just use an 8" piece of ribbon and 1/8" seams.

emily's teachers, aides and bus driver will be getting their cozies and a little bag of chocolate hearts.

Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. This is a really cute idea. I think it wuld make a great gift for mom to be as she heads to the hospital to birth her babe. I had the worst chapped lips during labor and tell everyone to take chapstick now. This would be cute and functional!!
